When Jared’s mom contacted me about taking his senior portraits, she was looking for something different than the usual fare. This led to a fun afternoon of hanging out with the whole family, and taking pictures of everyone! Here are some of my favorites from our shoot:

I recently took portraits for this nice family on the Punahou campus.

They had the cutest kids – these two sisters…

…and their cousins, visiting from the mainland.

Suddenly, something strange happened…

…the kids had become zombies!

Watch out, Grandpa!

Uh oh…too late!

We did take the ‘nice’ family portraits too, as well as some of the kids all playing together, but those were part of the bargain I made with the kids before accepting their request for zombie pictures. Kids these days…I love them!

Half-Marine, Half-Coastie – Newborn Session

Friends Sarah and Joe welcomed their brand new baby girl, Samara, about three weeks ago, and I was so excited to take the photos for her first portrait session! It was a nice afternoon of hanging out around their house while waiting in between feedings for photos. Joe is a Marine, and Sarah is Coast Guard, so Samara is a dual military branch baby! We had fun with the shoot, from sticking her inside her daddy’s brand new racing tires, to enjoying all her little expressions (and helping her make them!). Check out how adorable this girl is:

Finally, here’s a photo of Sarah and Joe’s first baby, their pup named 9mil. Poor little guy, he’s a little bummed out he’s not the baby of the family anymore, but he still watches over Samara!

Welcome Home, Marine!

Having recently experienced a deployment homecoming myself, I was honored, nervous, and excited to have been asked to capture this Marine family’s heartwarming reunion. A father meeting his daughter for the first time was truly a special moment to have captured, and I will always remember it. I still get a little teary-eyed looking at these photos – the baby’s expression as she sees her father for the first time is priceless!

A special thanks goes out to my husband, Ed, for being my second shooter during the reunion and baby entertainer during the portraits! ♥

Joanna’s Group Maternity Session

Recently, I had the opportunity to do my very first maternity shoot, alongside several other talented Oahu photographers! We were invited by fellow photographer Joanna Tano to photograph her and her family. It was a beautiful day at Makapuu, and even though I was unable to participate in the underwater part of the shoot, I’m happy with the images I managed to capture.

Two of my high school classmates, Allison and Cecilia, decided to both book me for an afternoon double-family portrait session on Maui for their holiday family portraits! Their older kids have been friends since they were babies, and both of them had their second child in 2010, so a great time was had by all! While we did some of the traditional posed group portraits, here are some of my favorite shots from the day:

My good friends and neighbors, the Tramels, had me do some family portraits to send out to friends and family for the holidays, so we had a quick portrait session at one of our community playgrounds. Gotta love a family in jeans and Chucks!

Tucker Family at Kualoa Beach

I first met Lee Tucker, a fellow photographer and Public Affairs person for JPAC, when I attended the JPAC arrival ceremony at Hickam AFB back in September. Today, we did a family portrait session at Kualoa Beach with his wife and son, and got some great shots despite accident-caused traffic jams and always imminent rain. Though we did get rained out about 15 minutes before sunset, it was a fun way to spend the evening! Enjoy!

(Also, for the record, I got these edited same-day, and am also going to be up shooting a wedding all day tomorrow! I’m quite proud )

A Day In The Park With Phil & Aubrey

Aubrey’s mom is in the Army (one of my husband’s co-workers) and currently deployed, so her boyfriend Phil (another of my husband’s co-workers and a photographer friend) arranged for us to spend a few hours at the park to take some candid photos. It was so much fun playing with kites and bubbles before spending some time feeding the fish and ducks! Enjoy!

Thanks for the fun, everyone! And Aubrey, sorry for stalking you around the park so much, I know you’re kind of camera shy, but your momma loved the photos, so it was worth it.

Sophia’s First Ocean Day

This past September 11th, not only did I receive flowers from my wonderful husband who is currently deployed to Afghanistan, but I also joined my friends for an awesome day at the beach. It was baby Sophia’s first time in the ocean, and so I brought my cameras along to document the occasion!

First off, Sophia’s mom and dad, Aimee and Cyrel, rented one of those water tricycle things and went paddling off to sea…

…While Sophia remained on the beach in the care of three enthusiastic babysitters!

Chelsea and Nick also had a turn on the water tricycle, still as cute together as ever!

Finally, it was time. Sophia, meet the Pacific Ocean!

She seemed startled at first, but quickly got used to it.

In fact, she seemed to enjoy it! Her mom says she loves bathtime, so she’s probably a mermaid in the making!

Aimee is also a scuba diver, so I foresee lots of ocean adventures for this awesome family.
