I first met Jon when he was a groomsman for my good friend Mike Carino at his Maui wedding last summer. His bride-to-be, Kristie, mentioned how much she wanted mountains in the background of their engagement photos, so we were off to enjoy the landscape and soft light of Kaneohe. Enjoy!

Branden & Magie E-Session

Branden and Magie are such a fun couple to photograph! We spent a golden afternoon around Kapiolani Park and Waikiki Beach, and they definitely made our job easy. Enjoy the photos!

Natassia & Mark – Engagement Session

Now, this is a first. Same-day edit AND blog? Well, seeing how Natassia and Mark arrived in Hawaii yesterday, and are getting married this Saturday, I figured I’d expedite this session! We spent a fun, early morning on the North Shore shooting a casual engagement session, capping it off with shave ice from Matsumoto’s! (At 9:00am on a Thursday morning, there is absolutely NO line!) Sharing shave ice was particularly significant, since these two run their own shave ice catering business in California, Mahalo-halo Shave Ice. Natassia and Mark were such a cute, fun couple to hang out with, so I’m excited for their Saturday wedding.

Thanks goes out to Jonas for coming to be my backup right after work!

Michelle & Phil – Engagement Session

While my husband was deployed, his friend Phil, also a soldier and a fellow photographer, became one of my deployment buddies, since his lady, the lovely Michelle, was also deployed. Remember those photos I took of Phil with Michelle’s daughter Aubrey? Now, everyone is happily back together, and before their July wedding, we decided to do an engagement session. It was awesome to spend an afternoon hanging out with this fun couple, as well as Jonas, who played assistant for the day. Thanks everyone for a great time!

I also wanted to say that I was really loving the grey skies we’ve been having here on Oahu. I know I’m usually all about the brilliantly blue skies and golden hour light, but there’s something so soft and appealing about the grey-weather days too. ♥

Helene & Alika

A couple weeks ago, Ed and I spent an afternoon shooting with my lovely friend Helene and her awesome fiancé, Alika! Although we ran out of the golden light we’d been hoping for due to an unexpected large cloud, we made the best of it and instead took some amazing after-dark shots near the ocean with airplanes standing in for shooting stars. Can’t wait to shoot with these two again. <3 Enjoy!

Lauren & Junya

My old high school classmate Lauren married her college sweetheart, Junya, in December, but they decided to call me up for a post-wedding portrait session at the end of January. With Valentine’s Day coming up soon, I couldn’t help incorporating all the love-related props! (The red string of fate was Lauren’s idea, though!) We had a great time shooting into the late afternoon light, from them looking through their romance’s photo album to sitting by the sea, and these photos definitely make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Congratulations again to Lauren and Junya!

And thank you very much to Jonas for playing assistant that day!

Renee & Reyes – Informal Engagement Session/Photo Workshop

Renee, aka @surfchik4jesus of Happy Hearts Mochi, and Reyes were recently engaged, and because Renee is such a lovely person and active in the local Twitter community (she brought delicious mochi to my wedding!), I decided to put together an informal engagement photo workshop for some of my photographer friends. We gathered together at Magic Island with my small bag of props, and I proceeded to set up some shots for everyone. While I did spend much of the time rambling out information of varying usefulness, I did manage to take a few shots of my own.

But before we get to them, thanks to Ricky, Kyle, Ryan, Appi, and Jonas for coming out and taking photos!

Appi and Brent – A Holiday Portrait Session!

Last weekend, I had a fun holiday portrait session at Kakaako with my dear friend Appi and her beau, Brent. Since Appi is one of my crafting buddies, I knew she’d love to try out some creative ideas I’ve had for a while for bringing snow to this warm Hawaii holiday season. And, I’m proud to say, they worked out beautifully!

Cameron and Parker (In Julian, CA!)

On my recent family trip to California (Disneyland!…I’ll post a few trip photos when I get to them!), I got to spend an hour in Julian with one of my best friends, Cameron, and her boyfriend Parker. I love her dearly, and so we made the best of our time together by having a casual photo shoot around the town after having some delicious apple pie. I must say, the golden light of California is so much fun to shoot in! I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do – they’re a nice change of pace from the usual tropical Hawaii fare.

Thank you for all the fun, Cameron and Parker! Can’t wait to see you guys again! <3

(And yes…we found a random fake jail on my way back to my waiting parents before we drove off for Palm Desert.)

Cat and Danny – Engagement Session

Danny and Catherine are getting married in November, and already did a gorgeous formal engagement session in Vietnam, but decided they also wanted a more casual, fun shoot. So, we roamed around Downtown Honolulu while shooting just that!

It was a fun afternoon/evening with these two. Excited for the wedding in November!
